Built-in breakfast banquette for summer home. Bar Harbor, ME.
Although furniture is my passion, with a background in cabinetry and renovations, most interior projects are manageable. Here, the home owner asked if I would build a wrap around banquette in the current style of the home in place of the very small and barely usable space created by a counter bar and peninsula. After cutting the counter down to just the size of the kitchen cabinets, a frame was built for maple bench seats and trim around the bead board back. A piece of curly maple was used to create a backsplash and tie the whole kitchen, which already had some sections of maple butcher block counter, together.
