Standing cabinet. Walnut, maple drawers, ebony pulls. Oil and shellac finish.
55" x 16" x 10" Originally conceived as a scotch cabinet, and later dubbed "Single Malt" by a visiting friend, this stunning standing cabinet of figured walnut was awarded third place by The Furniture Society's 2012 Faculty Selects Competition, jurried by Gary Knox-Bennet, and was featured in Fine Woodworkings Reader's Gallery, Feb. 2014. A soft-spoken piece, quietly displaying a beautiful pair of book-matched, figured-walnut doors, hand shaped to a soft outward curve, and hand-carved ebony pulls. Hand-cut dovetails on the carcass and drawers, subtle knife hinges, and the gentle curve of the body fading into the square stance keeps the eye moving from feature to feature. Open the doors to a playful layout, a narrow shelf above an offset divider and drawer |
